The story of how we got Vinny The Rentable 66′ Chevy

My husband and i have a love for classic cars & trucks. We grew up in a world surrounded by fast cars, trucks, dirt bikes & all the cool stuff. We have been keeping our eyes peeled for an old truck for years now. In Colorado it just was not possible to be honest, So when we moved out to North Carolina it was on my mind. Especially after driving around everywhere and literally seeing some old vehicles cruising. Not only did we want to make this truck a prop for my photography business and rentable to others, We want Oli to have something like this to grow up with… A piece of the good ol days.

So how i found this truck; Scrolling facebook marketplace after seeing a few trucks, One of which sold before we could even look at it. I was becoming a bit discouraged as this was beginning to feel impossible. I was literally sending screenshot after screenshot of trucks to my husband. We found one we loved. Unfortunately the deal did not work out. In all the mix of messages/screenshots, we both liked This old 1966 Chevy. I had messaged the guy but we had not got a response. We really liked it! Unique compared to the other trucks we had found.

So i sent another non generic message asking for details on the truck and a video if it was still available. Minutes later he answers, “i’ll send that over to you.” To say Kevin and I were thrilled was an understatement. Long story short, we worked it out to go see the truck over an hour away from us. Kevin woke up at Noon to meet this guy at 2pm, and had to be to work by 5:30pm to work all night… Dedicated to say the least to make a dream come true. We met him and fall in love with the truck instantly. Kevin took it for a quick test drive and it was perfect for what we needed.

We made the deal happen and Kevin rode with the seller in the truck to his house to get the load of extra parts, car cover and anything he had on the truck. To say this is meant to be, feels like an cliche but its true… The world works out in the most mysterious ways.

Kevin drove the truck the hour home and i followed him in my car since it does not yet have plates on it. It literally was flawless the whole way until we were like 6 minutes from the house….

The insurance company calls me says their was an issue with my ID. As we are coming through this roundabout, i am reading off my ID to the insurance company. Kevin dropped something in the truck. While he is trying to get it the truck gets REAL pissed about that. Shuts off and back fires two times. I almost rear end Kevin not realizing this was all happening and he is stopping. He is stopped In the middle of a Roundabout as i am casually sitting their with my hazards on as cars are coming by us on the side.

It fired back up and we were on our way again! Nothing crazy but a part of the story we want to remember! So…. meet Vinny the rentable chevy truck. I am not sure why or how vinny felt fitting but it did and it stuck.
